Our First 200-Hour Teacher Training Is Here
A letter from Alice, Emily and Ivorie
We are so excited (and honored) to share some big news: North Ray Yoga is launching its very first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training.
This program reflects two things we care deeply about: respect for the traditions of yoga, and real preparation for teaching in today's world. Our goal isn't just to graduate yoga teachers. It's to support thoughtful practitioners, skilled facilitators and authentic leaders who can share yoga in a way that is sustainable, inclusive and grounded in integrity.
Our training is grounded in the traditions of Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. From Hatha, we draw embodied awareness, breath, alignment, steadiness and self-study. From Vinyasa, we draw the art of intelligent sequencing and the weaving of breath and movement into one cohesive practice.
We see yoga as both an ancient practice and a living one. We honor its history and philosophy beyond the poses, and we also welcome what modern movement science, nervous system research and accessibility work have taught us. Modern yoga comes from many lineages, so rather than following a single teacher or school, we'll help you understand how yoga has evolved and develop your own discernment.
What You'll Study
Yoga philosophy and history beyond asana
Functional anatomy and biomechanics
Intelligent sequencing
Breathwork and nervous system regulation
The ethics of teaching
Inclusive and accessible teaching practices
Holding space for diverse groups of students
Professionalism and building a sustainable teaching career
You'll Start Teaching Right Away
Many trainings focus on logging hours and memorizing information. Foundational knowledge matters, but becoming a teacher takes more than finishing a curriculum. That's why practice teaching starts right off the bat, so you get as much real teaching time as possible.
Along the way, you'll build confidence, learn to create safe and meaningful classes, adapt for different bodies and needs, and keep growing your own personal practice. Most of all, you'll discover your authentic teaching voice. Great teaching isn't about copying someone else. It's about teaching from your own experience while staying rooted in the principles of yoga.
What We Ask, and What We Promise
We see teacher training as both a professional education and a personal journey. We don't expect perfection. We do ask for effort, presence, curiosity, and a genuine commitment to growth: showing up, practicing, participating, and treating your fellow trainees with respect. Ask questions, respectfully challenge assumptions, and explore how yoga lives in your own experience.
In return, you'll find a supportive learning environment built on inquiry. It's less about right and wrong, and more about making choices with a strong "why." You can count on experienced instruction, compassionate feedback, individual mentorship, plenty of hands-on teaching, and a community that welcomes every background and identity. Our support doesn't end at graduation, either.
We hope to graduate teachers who understand the roots of the practice, have the skills to teach well, and feel empowered to share yoga authentically, ethically and sustainably. We can't wait to help shape this next generation of teachers.
